Fault: Due to incorrect wiring there is a possibility that the side airbags could deploy without warning.

Repair: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and check the wiring. Incorrect wiring will be modified to correct setting.

Fault: The engine wiring harness may chafe and cause localised overheating. In extreme cases this may result in a fire.

Repair: Recall likely to be affected vehicles and inspect the engine wiring harness repairing individual cables as necessary. The harness will then be enclosed within a protective sheath.

Fault: The clevis pin which secures the brake master cylinder push rod to the brake pedal cross shaft may become detached due to the possible non-fitment of the securing clip.

Repair: Likely to be affected vehicles will be checked for the installation of the securing clip. Should it be found that the securing clip has not been fitted one will be installed.

Brake Pedal May Require More Effort Than Expected - E- Class SL CLS (2005)


Fault: In isolated cases it is possible for vibrations within the vehicle to in turn vibrate the wiring harness connected to the Sensotronic Brake Control unit. This causes the internal contacts within the unit to suffer abrasion and subsequent resistance increase. The resultant affect is that more effort will be required on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle.

Repair: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and mount an additional bracket to the electrical harness to prevent relative movement.
